Job Description

Position: Facility Officer (Operations)

Salary: Salary: £20,545, £21,278, £21,941, £22,564, £23,040

Scale: S10-S14

Pension: An excellent Pension Scheme Available.

Hours: 40 hours shift work per week, includes paid lunch.

Holidays: 32 working days (inclusive of bank and public holidays)

Line Managers: Duty Officers & Centre Manager

Purpose of Post: A Facility Officer is required to manage the Wetside & Dryside Supervisors, Recreation Assistants, Receptionists, Therapists, Personal Trainers, Coaches & support the Centre Manager.

You will be expected to provide a warm welcoming service, promoting a culture and ethos of health and well-being and expected to create a dynamic and engaging atmosphere and strive to improve members’ health and well-being.

Generic Responsibilities:

· Manage & oversee the day to day operation of the Sports Centre when on shift.

· Cover the Wetside and Dryside Supervisors during leave/sickness or when necessary.

· Manage & oversee the health and safety of the Swimming Pool & Fitness Suite

environment when on shift.

· Ensure that the Swimming Pool & Fitness Suite are supervised at the required times.

· Assist the Sports Centre with its retention & attrition strategies.

· Assist with cleaning & lifeguarding when necessary.

· Oversee the daily staff rota to manage the daily operations of the Sports Centre.

· Ensure the Administrator & Finance Officer’s administrative & financial procedures are enforced.

· Support & ensure the front of house operational systems are enforced.

· Implement & deliver UK recognised Quality Scheme i.e. Quest & the National Pool Safety Award.

· Ensure Facility Inspection Reports are completed within one hour of commencing shift.

· Oversee daily routine pool tests & pool plant operations.

· Carryout staff appraisals & personnel development.

· Oversee the treatment of first aid & ensure accident reports are completed where necessary.

· Adhere to the Centre’s Integrated Management Procedures & ensure that members and pupils are never exposed to unnecessary risks.

· Ensure that all staff wear correct uniform & use PPE (personal protective equipment) where required.

· Ensure visits to the centre by members & pupils are enjoyable & assist with any enquiries or problems.

· Assist with the development of the facility for community use.

· Assist with recruitment & staff management.

· Assist with the set-up of appropriate administration.

· Ensure the correct staffing levels are maintained for all swimming pool activities i.e. pool inflatable and galas etc.

Specific Responsibilities:

· Assist with the administration of the Sports Centre’s operational procedures.

· Assist the Centre Manager to maintain an index library of the Sports Centre’s operational procedures.

· Undertake an annual audit to identify whether staff are working to set procedures and that the procedures are effective in control of service delivery.

· Act as the Health & Safety Coordinator & manage the Sport’s Centre’s health & safety management approach in conjunction with the Centre Manager.

· Manage the Sports Centre’s risk assessments, COSHH assessments & quarterly safety inspections.

· Assist with the recruitment of Recreation Assistants, Supervisors & initial induction training.

· Assist with the Centre’s cleaning programme & prepare & amend all relevant documentation.

· Oversee the work experience programme.

· Carryout regular audits & reviews within your area of responsibility & identify the necessary improvements.

· Manage the planned preventative maintenance programme and provide the Centre Manager with an up to date quarterly schedule.

· Manage the maintenance that cannot be carried out in house or through flow 360 by organising an external contractor / school technician to carry out the necessary work.

· Ensure relevant staff are aware of how to complete maintenance tasks in line with the operating procedures.

· Oversee the monthly emergency lighting tests.

· Manage the service equipment schedules.

· Manage the weekly fire alarm tests.

· Ensure that the operating procedures for the plant room are up to date.

Pupil Orientated Responsibilities: In conjunction with the Centre Manager

· Develop the facility for pupils’ use.

· Liaise with the Head of P.E. of St. Mary’s School & Headmistress at St. Margaret’ School.

· Ensure the facility is set up ready for teaching staff when required.

· Support the teaching staff as necessary.

These responsibilities are not exhaustive & may include any other reasonable duties as required by the Sports Centre Manager, Bursar or Headmistresses of the School.

Person Specification:

Essential: Basic knowledge of building maintenance and hands on approach.

Essential: A recognised supervisory leisure management qualification or relevant operational experience.

Essential: National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

Essential National Pool Plant Operators Certificate.

Essential: First Aid at Work Qualification.

Essential: IT literate.

Essential: GCSE’s in English & Mathematics (Grade C or above).

Desirable: Nationally recognised fitness qualification.

Desirable: Good typing & administrative skills.

 

Personality & Attitude:

· You must have excellent communication, organisational & interpersonal skills.

· A flexible approach is required when working a shift pattern that includes some unsocial hours & weekend work.

· Approachable, friendly & reliable & able to adapt to a range of user groups.

· Adaptable to various situations & be able to make effective decisions under pressure.

· Able to adapt & manage change.

Casual Swimming Teacher - ASA Level 2

Part-time

We are looking for an experienced Level 2 ASA Swimming teacher to provide cover for our Swim School throughout the week and during weekends.
