Scale:        S10- S14

Hours:       40 hours shift work per week, includes paid lunch.

Line Managers: Duty Officers & Centre Manager

 

Purpose of Post: A Facility Officer is required to manage the Wetside & Dryside Supervisors, Recreation Assistants, Receptionists, Therapists, Personal Trainers, Coaches & support the Centre Manager.

You will be expected to provide a warm welcoming service, promoting a culture and ethos of health and well-being and expected to create a dynamic and engaging atmosphere and strive to improve members’ health and well-being.

Generic Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage & oversee the day to day operation of the Sports Centre when on shift.
  • Cover the Supervisors during leave/sickness or when necessary.
  • Manage & oversee the health and safety of the Swimming Pool & Fitness Suite environment when on shift.
  • Ensure that the Swimming Pool & Fitness Suite are supervised at the required times.
  • Assist the Sports Centre with its retention & attrition strategies.
  • Assist with cleaning & lifeguarding when necessary.
  • Oversee the daily staff rota to manage the daily operations of the Sports Centre.
  • Ensure the Administrator & Finance Officer’s administrative & financial procedures are enforced.
  • Support & ensure the front of house operational systems are enforced.
  • Implement & deliver UK recognised quality scheme i.e. Quest & the National Pool Safety Award.
  • Assist with the Health & Safety Coordinators management approach.
  • Ensure Facility Inspection Reports are completed within one hour of commencing shift.
  • Oversee daily routine pool tests & pool plant operations.
  • Carry out staff appraisals & personnel development.
  • Oversee the treatment of first aid & ensure accident reports are completed where necessary.
  • Adhere to the Centre’s integrated management procedures & ensure that members and pupils are never exposed to unnecessary risks.
  • Ensure that all staff wear correct uniform & use PPE (personal protective equipment) where required.
  • Ensure visits to the centre by members & pupils are enjoyable & assist with any enquiries or problems.
  • Assist with the development of the facility for community use.
  • Assist with recruitment & staff management within your area
  • Assist with the setup of appropriate administration.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Manage the term time & holiday timetables i.e. fitness classes, dryside courses, wetside courses, fitness suite, swimming pool & children’s activities.
  • Manage the children’s holiday club & ensure the correct staffing levels are maintained.
  • Manage and coordinate the Sports Development strategy for the new Sports Hall.
  • Assist with the recruitment of Lifeguards, Recreation Assistants and Supervisors that support your role and be responsible for their initial induction training.
  • Oversee the Swim School programme in conjunction with the Wetside Supervisor.
  • Oversee the computerised bookings for fitness classes, dryside courses, wetside courses, fitness suite, swimming pool, children’s activities & any other internal or external bookings (i.e. Sports Hall activities and bookings).
  • Manage fitness class instructors and fitness classes (inc staffing, timetables, monitor class attendance, holiday/sickness leave and meetings).
  • Assist with the retention & attrition strategies and membership promotions.
  • Oversee the wetside & dryside parties & ensure the correct staffing levels are maintained.
  • Carry out regular audits & reviews within your area of responsibility & identify the necessary improvements.
  • Assist with event management.

 

Pupil Orientated Responsibilities:

In conjunction with the Centre Manager

  • Develop the facility for pupils’ use.
  • Liaising with the Head of P.E, St Mary’s School & Headmistress, St Margaret’s School.
  • Ensure the facility is set up ready for teaching staff when required.
  • Support the teaching staff as necessary.

Person Specification:

 

Essential:               Nationally recognised Sports Development or Leisure Management Qualification.

Essential:               National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

Essential:               National Pool Plant Operators Certificate.

Essential:               First Aid at Work Qualification.

Essential:               IT literate.

Essential:              GCSEs in English & Mathematics (Grade C or above).

 

Desirable:             Nationally recognised Fitness Qualification.

Desirable:             Good typing and administrative skills.

Desirable:             National Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor Qualification

 

Personality & Attitude:

  • You must have excellent communication, organisational & interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible approach is required when working a shift pattern that includes some unsocial

      hours & weekend work.

Purpose of Post:        To maintain effective operation of the centre within the guidelines of St Mary’s School Services’ Health and Safety legislation.

 

We are seeking to employ a Fitness Suite Supervisor who will be the point of contact for members and visitors to the Sports Centre’s state of the art Fitness Suite as well as supervising the general building on a day to day basis.  You will be expected to provide a warm, welcoming service, promoting a culture and ethos of health and well-being. He/she will be expected to create a dynamic and engaging atmosphere and strive to improve members’ health and well-being through specific goal-setting strategies.

  • Assist with the opening up and closing down of the facility.
  • Be familiar with all front office procedures and assist with Reception when necessary.
  • Supervise the gymnasium and ensure that all members and pupils comply with present rules.
  • To ensure visits to the centre by members and pupils are enjoyable and assist with any enquiries or problems.
  • To be familiar with the Sportsoft booking system.
  • Act in accordance with existing checklists, cleaning duties and health and safety procedures relevant to your area of responsibility.
  • To provide first aid treatment when necessary, ensuring accident reports are completed where necessary.
  • To be familiar with all emergency procedures, and ensure that members and pupils are never exposed to unnecessary risks.
  • To wear correct uniform and use PPE (personal protective equipment) where required.
  • To perform any other duties that may be considered necessary by the Centre Manager or Fitness Manager.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Fitness Suite.
  • Oversee the Fitness Instructors, organise and deliver monthly fitness team meetings and organise training that will benefit the long term ambition of the Sports Centre.
  • To assist with inductions and gym floor blast sessions.
  • Oversee member appointments and manage the Real Results Induction process and tracker.
  • To oversee member appointments, allocating inductions and reviews accordingly.
  • Manage the relevant fitness suite procedures i.e. Fitness Facilities NOP, Retention, Fitness Assessments and Members Journey.
  • Manage the relevant fitness suite risk assessments in conjunction with the Facility Officer of Operations.
  • Oversee the management of the entertainment systems within the Fitness Suite.
  • Oversee the management of client data/protection i.e. pre activity readiness questionnaires.
  • To oversee and manage the Sports Centre’s retention procedures, including TRP Interact (Engage CEM), ensure all staff are achieving monthly interaction target and ensure it is being fully utilised in order to achieve the overall Sports Centre aim to interact with all high risk members.
  • To assist the Facility Officer (Sports Development and Programming) in the organisation, programming and development of fitness classes and courses in conjunction with market trends.
  • To oversee all REP’s registered staff and keep up to date with the FIA protocol in CPD.
  • Oversee and develop the term time Sports Centre led P.E sessions for St Mary’s School.
  • Oversee and implement a daily gym floor activity programme for members to take part in.

Essential                     REPS Level 3 Personal Training Qualification or equivalent

Desirable                    Recognised fitness teaching qualification

Desirable                    12 months supervising experience.

Casual Swimming Teacher - ASA Level 2

Part-time

We are looking for an experienced Level 2 ASA Swimming teacher to provide cover for our Swim School. Saturday mornings 9.00-11.30am & Sunday mornings 9.00-12.00pm - term-time only.
